QPR striker Charlie Austin was offered to Newcastle United last week.
The Evening Chronicle says the Toon were offered the chance to sign Austin on deadline day in a deal that would have seen Rolando Aarons move to QPR.
An agent, who claimed to be representing QPR, tried to set up a deal that would have seen Austin switching to the Premier League side.
QPR wanted £10m plus Aarons which would have meant the Magpies losing one of their prize assets in the 19-year-old former Bristol City trainee.
